The section up to Tortosa was eventually completed in 1942.<\/p>\n<p>The objective was to allow access to the sea to products from Aragon.<\/p>\n<p>As the works were not completed, the line was abandoned. Even so, the line was in operation for 31 years, and it was finally closed down on September 17, 1973.<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays, along the greenway, we can find old railway stations, numerous tunnels, viaducts, the gorges of the Canaletes River, the Fontcalda Sanctuary,<\/p>\n<p>and L\u2019Assut dam.<\/p>\n<p>In the old building at the Xerta railway station, you will find the Ebro River Interpretation Centre. Its main theme is the uses of water in the town throughout history.
